What we do
ExpatMoneyEU publishes independent, research-based guides on the money questions every expat faces: which bank account to open in Germany, France or Spain; how to send money abroad without overpaying; and which European brokers are worth trusting.
We started this site because expat banking advice online is mostly either marketing copy from the banks themselves, or outdated forum threads. We aim for a third way: compare the products that are genuinely popular among expats, explain the fees in plain English, flag the fine print, and never pretend there's a single "#1 best" product for everyone.
How we research
- Primary sources first. Every comparison starts from the provider's published price list and terms — not from another blog's summary.
- Cross-checked with 2026 reviews. We verify key facts (free-plan conditions, ATM limits, FX fees) against current third-party reviews before publishing.
- No invented numbers. We never invent fees, rates or features. When something varies by country or changes often, we say so and tell you to verify on the provider's site.
- Corrections welcome. If you spot an error, tell us — we'll fix it promptly.
How we make money
ExpatMoneyEU is free to read. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links: if you open an account through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the research and keep the guides free. It never changes what we recommend — see our full affiliate disclosure.
Our welfare pledge
Money guides should do more than save readers money. That's why:
🤲 Giving back
"A share of this site's earnings (5-10%) is pledged to help poor people."
This is a standing commitment, not a marketing line. As the site earns, a share goes to people who need it — because financial guidance is only meaningful if it ultimately helps those with the least.
What we're not
- Not financial advisers. Our guides are educational comparisons, not personalised financial advice. For regulated advice, consult a licensed adviser in your country.
- Not a bank or broker. We don't hold your money, open accounts for you, or process transfers.
- Not always right. Fees and features change constantly. Treat our guides as a well-researched starting point — then verify the current terms with the provider.
